Cat- astrophe! PDF Print E-mail

Recently Miss Bucher's class visited the library and each student checked out a book to take back to the room.  As they were spending a few minutes reading a young lady, who had checked out a book on cats, came to Mrs. Griffith and told her pictures were missing in the book.

Someone had chosen several pictures in the book to cut out and keep for themselves!  We at the library are disappointed and a little mad!  Why would anyone ruin a book that did not belong to them?  The entire community should be disturbed, and maybe a little angry, about this.  After all, that is YOUR book that was ruined.  That book will need to removed from the library.  No one can check that book out again.  The books are for all to enjoy.  It is sad when someone makes that impossible.Cry

SocratesDuring their November visit the 2nd graders heard a story by Jane Yolen called "Owl Moon", then went upstairs to meet Socrates, our resident owl. owl It seems Socrates is something of an ambulance chaser. Wink Unfortunately, it didn't end well for him. Frown

EMT Greg Heiken had him stuffed and donated him to the library.  He now watches over all transactions at the front desk.  Thanks, Greg, for thinking of the library.  It's the perfect place for Socrates.  He will always be shared with the community here!

You can check out a book to learn more about the Great Horned Owl or other owls native to Illinois.  The library staff would be happy to help you find answers to any questions you have.
