“Knight” at the Castle

“Knight” at the Castle

Several patrons chose the prize of spending all night at the castle during ” A Midsummer Knight’s Read” summer reading program this year.  We solved “The Rose” mystery, played Wii, did puzzles, played a computer game, played Bingo and won prizes, ate pizza and drank pop, and watched a movie.  The castle quieted down around 2:30 am.  We were up, had doughnuts and juice, [...]
12th Night

12th Night

The day was hot, but I heard nothing but praises from all who attended the Shakespeare play acted out for children on July 20th.  The play was a delightful mix of Shakespeare, music, and modern speech.  Adults and children alike thouroghly enjoyed the event!  The actors were kind enough to pose with our group after the show.  Methinks it was a blast!
Wii Tournament

Wii Tournament

Axes, swords, and arrows were flying during our Medieval Wii Tournament!  All virtually, of course.  Only 20 souls were brave enough to don the armor and compete for the prize.  Those that did participate had a great time, however! Congratulations to Devin, who logged the highest score for the tournament champion.  He is pictured below with some friends and family who also participated in the [...]
Castle Window Crafts

Castle Window Crafts

Beautiful stained-glass effects are being made at the library this summer!  Children are choosing medieval shapes and figures to help them create a window for the castle windows.  What fun!
Puzzle ‘Knight’

Puzzle ‘Knight’

Several families and individuals took a break from other activities and joined us for an evening of relaxing puzzles!  The adults nearly finished the 1000 piece puzzle of Sir Lancelot upstairs.  They did get the 300 piece dragon puzzle finished!  Downstairs, families enjoyed several puzzles, including a Medieval Sudoku.  It was great to see a table full of children working together.
Dragon Crafts

Dragon Crafts

The last of week of June was the week the library was invaded by dragons!  There were dragons of all colors flying around the ‘castle’.  Children enjoyed making their very own dragon mask or bookmark to take home.     A special ‘Thanks’ to Tess and Lauren!  They have done an excellent job putting away ALL those books coming back to the library!  Keep reading!  [...]
Movie ‘Knight’

Movie ‘Knight’

60 people gathered at dusk to take part in the library’s movie ‘knight’ June 24th.  Bobbie Talbert, a member of the Friends of the Library, and Robin Heffron, a staff member served popcorn to all.  We watched a great movie that had knights, castles, swords, dragons, giffins, ogres, and singing.  Yes, I said singing!  Parts were played by Pierce Brosnan, Don Rickles, and Cary Tewes [...]
A Midsummer (Reading) Night’s Dream

A Midsummer (Reading) Night’s Dream

About 25 people total participated in the reader’s theater of the Shakespeare play “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”.  Adults and children each read along as assigned readers read their character’s part aloud.  Many were excited about the story, and couldn’t wait to read it at home.  Each participant took a copy of the play home so they could do just that!  After summing [...]
Shield Crafts

Shield Crafts

Over 80 shields were crafted Tuesday and many more on Thursday during our first craft day during this year’s summer reading program.  People came in all day to create their own shield to take home and display proudly.
