public computer use

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the library has only two public computers open due to the need to give people plenty of space.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The information below will be true again when the pandemic is over:
The El Paso District Library currently has six computers available for the general public to use.
You do not have to have a library card to use the computer if you are an adult.
However, those under 18 years of age, must have a library card (or have a parent/guardian with a library card). A parent/guardian must also fill out the Public Access Computer Use Agreement. The Public Access Computer Use Agreement has three sections. The first section is to be read and signed by the parent or guardian indicating that they understand the rules. The name line should be filled out with the name of the child, not the adult.
The second section covers minors 10 to 18 years of age. By signing this section, the parent/guardian gives permission for the minor to use the computer and agrees that they will be responsible for monitoring their child's use.
The third section covers minors 9 years of age and under. By signing this section, the parent/guardian gives permission for the minor to use the computer and acknowledges that the minor must be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older.
Do not assume that the information that comes over the Internet is filtered or is something you would want your family members to view. The library staff is not responsible for monitoring children's (or teenager's) viewing activity on the public computers.
Ask at the front desk if you wish to use a public computer. You will be given a slip of paper with a password upon it. The first screen you will see on the computer is our computer use policy. It is strongly recommended that you read through the computer use policy especially before you use the public computers for the first time. Enter the password in the PIN# field. You click 'I agree' if you agree to abide by the computer use policy. Then on the next screen, you logon as a GUEST. You are given one hour of computer use.
There are two other public computers specifically intended for children in the 3rd grade and younger. These computers are installed with several children's games. These computers are not meant for any Internet usage, only for playing the children's games which are already installed. A library card is not required for children using the children's computers.
