We Love Books!

We Love Books!

The preschool group had a great time hearing Valentine stories, doing some songs, and making some cool crafts!  Each child received a Valentine with a tatoo from the library, and then got to make a Valentine crown and a melted crayon heart.  Each project was unique and beautiful!

Reading Round-Up, Pardner!

We rustled up  a ‘herd’ of cowboys and cowgirls for our western story hour at the end of January.  After several stories and some fingerplays, each child made a ‘plaque’ of cowboys riding into the sunset and a western bracelet to take home.
Polar Bear, Polar Bear

Polar Bear, Polar Bear

The lapsitters enjoyed hearing lots of animal sounds, including the polar bear as we enjoyed Eric Carle’s illustrations to Bill Martin Jr.’s Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?  We acted like little polar bears, then made a fluffy polar bear to take home.  The social interaction is great…. for the kids, too!
‘Snow’ Much Fun!

‘Snow’ Much Fun!

The preschoolers were wondering where all the snow was on this January day, but we made a little with the stories we chose to read and tell.  After the stories, the children made their parents’ handprint into 5 snowmen, stamped giant snowflakes, and looked for objects hidden in a snowy picture.

Tiny Turkey Day

Tiny Turkey Day

We had a gobble good time during our Lap-Sitters story time November 15th!  Caretakers and children sang, did rhymes and listened to a story about the animal’s Thanksgiving meal.  After the stories and activities adults and children assembled a colorful turkey. #gallery-2 { margin: auto; } #gallery-2 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: [...]

Not-So-Scary Stories

Not-So-Scary Stories

We spent our time together singing, playing, acting and reading about scarecrows during the preschool story hour for the end of October.  We put on a scarecrow hat, and I’m sure not one crow would have been scared by those adorable faces!  The children each completed a cute little scarecrow to take home before they left. #gallery-4 { margin: auto; } #gallery-4 .gallery-item [...]
