April 9th through April 15th is National Library Week. National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation’s libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support. The theme this year is “Libraries Transform.” National Library Worker’s Day is celebrated on the Tuesday of National Library Week (April 11, 2017), a day for library staff, users, administrators, and Friends groups to recognize the valuable contributions made by all library workers.
Friends Registration - Join the Friends of the Library during National Library Week and get a free stylus light pen AND a chance to win a gift basket with a Friends T-shirt, a Friends tote bag, and a $25 IGA gift card.

You should enter the Edible Book Contest at the El Paso Public Library during National Library Week. The entries have to consist of edible materials and the entry must have something to do with a book. Any age can enter. We will award prizes to the best entries. Come to the library to get a form to fill out with your entry. The contest will be on Thursday, April 13th. Have your entries at the library by 3 pm. You can also come to the library on that day to take a look at the entries by the cooks hooked on books and to vote for your favorite entry!
And don’t forget that on Friday, April 21st, the library will have its first Trivia Night starting at 6:30 pm. The event is free and for fun although we will try to have some challenging questions. You must register for this event. You can register as a team. You can also register as an individual and we will try our best to find a team for you. Register by calling the library at 527-4360 or by stopping by the library front desk. The grand prize for the Trivia night first place team is $100 cash to split among themselves. Free babysitting will be provided. Once again, you must register to participate in this event!
And finally, thank you Friends of the Library for spoiling us librarians and for all the wonderful ways you support the library throughout the year!
