Local author, Tim Pletkovich was here in December 2017 talking about his book, Civil War Fathers: Sons of the Civil War in World War II. He is a very enthusiastic and interesting speaker. He was scheduled to come this spring, but we had to reschedule his presentation due to unforseen circumstances.
Mr. Pletkovich will be be at the library on Tuesday, September 11th at 6:30 pm to repeat his presentation about his book, Civil War Fathers: Sons of the Civil War in World WAR II. Don't miss this interesting talk!
And Mr. Pletkovich will also be here on Tuesday, September 18th at 6:30 pm to talk about his second book, Nuns, Nazis, and Notre Dame. He plans on playing a Jeopardy style game with the audience during his discussion. The book covers the life of Gerald Ambrose O'Reilly from his childhood in Brooklyn to his action in World War II and beyond. Come see how his life was affected by Teddy Roosevelt, Jackie Robinson, and William F. Buckley, Jr..
Also, on Thursday, September 13th at 6 pm, Maureen Brunsdale will be hear to talk about the book she cowrote with Mark Schmitt, The Bloomington-Normal Circus Legacy: The Golden Age of Aerialists. Maureen Brunsdale is the Special Collections and Rare Books Librarian at Illinois State University, a member of the Circus Fans Association and a Board Member of the Circus Historical Society. Don't miss this opportunity to learn how and why Bloomington-Normal became well known for producing trapeze artists.
