Local author, Tim Pletkovich was at the library yesterday (Tuesday, September 18th) to talk about his book, Nuns, Nazis, and Notre Dame: Stories of the Great Depression, WWII, and the Fighting Irish. The book tells the story of Gerald A. O'Reilly who grew up in Brooklyn, New York and fought with the U.S. Army 10th Mountain Division during World War II on skis in the mountains of Northern Italy. He went on to have a very full life with his family, many friends and his career. Tim had the audience play a fast paced and very fun Jeopardy game as part of the presentation. We had 2 teams with three people each. The competition was back and forth between the two teams. On the final Jeopardy question, the Darla team (Darla, Donita, and Sara) had 300 points. The Sally team (Sally, David, and Diane) had 180 points. The Sally team made their final Jeopardy wager of 180 points and got the question right. The Darla team made their final Jeopardy wager of 61 points and got the question wrong. So, the Sally team was victorious! (Sally missed being in the picture). It was fun to watch the competition!
