![]() One of the fun things about working here is discovering interesting books as you go through your work day. This book tells the story of the family dairy farm that Jerry Apps grew up on in Wisconsin. He was born in 1934. Some historians claim that the years from 1940 to 1955 were the second great revolution in agriculture with the many advancements that took place such as running water in the barns, labor saving farm machinery, and electricity in rural areas. The book was inspired by the financial accounting books of Jerry's mother. It was very interesting to read of the changes and struggles that the family went through and the hard work that everyone on the farm was expected to do and how the author thought it helped him in later life. If you are a descendant from a farming family during this era, it gives insight into what your own relatives may have gone through. It is easy to read and I got very caught up in the family's struggles.
