Kelly Allsup, University of Illinois Extension Educator, gave a great presentation yesterday on Cicadas and Other Beneficial Bugs! We had several children in the crowd and they asked many good questions. We learned quite a bit but one fact in particular stood out to me!
The year 2024 will be a great year for Cicadas. There are cicadas that we can hear every year (dog day cicadas). There are cicadas that come out every 13 years and every 17 years. In 2024, all three kinds of cicadas will be singing to us!
