![]() A Gallup poll in 2003 about the ‘most feared physical conditions’ ranked vision loss as the fifth condition that Americans are somewhat or very concerned about happening to them. Wilma, a visually impaired local resident here in El Paso, Illinois, wants to help alleviate some of the fear for those who are becoming visually impaired. She says that you can learn to adapt to the condition. It helps if you are open to learning new ways of doing things. She wants to start a support group for the visually impaired here in our community. The group will meet at the El Paso District Library. But, we need people to pass the word around about the group so that we can hear from those who would be interested in attending. We would like a family member, friend, or neighbor to transport the visually impaired person to the library and to stay and learn ways they could also help the visually impaired person in their life to become more independent. Please call the library (527-4360) or stop by if you know of someone who would like to become involved in this support group.
