October is "Blindness Awareness" Month. Blindness Awareness Month was designed to help people understand the realities of living without sight. Local resident, Wilma Copeland will be doing several programs this month to help people better understand life with visual impairment.
On Tuesday, October 10th Wilma will be at the library at 4 pm titled, "My Journey from Sight to Blindness". She will talk about how she learned to live her life with visual impairment and how she keeps her independence. We chose the 4 pm time to aid older adults who might not like to be out after dark. Families are welcome as long as the children are mature enough to sit quietly and listen without disturbing others who are trying to listen.
Wilma will teach be at the library two times during October to teach those interested how to write their names in Braille. She will be here on Tuesday, October 10th from 2 pm to 4 pm and also on Tuesday, October 24th from 2 pm to 4 pm.
