Join Daryl Carlson of the Alzheimer's Association for this free talk. When someone is showing signs of dementia, it's time to talk. Often, conversations with family about changing behaviors can be challenging and uncomfortable. This program provides tips for breaking the ice with your family so you can address some of the most common issues that are difficult to discuss: going to the doctor for a diagnosis or medical treatment, deciding when to stop driving, and making legal and financial plans for future care.

![]() We will discuss American Heart by Laura Moriarty. ![]() Our next book (August) will be Life in a Jar, the Irena Sendler Project by Jack Mayer. There is a meeting tomorrow from 10 am to 11 am Tween/YA Book Club Meeting this Thursday, July 18th!
I don't believe I had this on the July calendar so my apologies! The South Pointe Area Running Club (SPARC) will be hosting the annual SPARC Triathlon Wednesday evening at Gridley’s Westview Park. This will be the second year in a row for the Westview Park venue. A course tour will be provided at 5:50 PM, with races beginning shortly after 6 PM.
Kids 14 & under are invited to participate. The full SPARC Triathlon – a 100-yard swim, 1.83-mile bike, and 0.93-mile run – will be preceded by a shorter event for younger athletes. The swim, bike, and run are all entirely within Westview Park. Water will be available on the course. This event is free and open to the public. The EPGJH Cross Country program covers all costs. Optional donations of $10 per athlete payable to EPGJH XC Runners will be accepted at registration. Gatorade, fruit, water, and other post-race snacks will be provided. We look forward to seeing you Wednesday night! Contact Coach Mike Heffron (not the library) with any questions at xcmike@elpaso.net. Last Friday some library board members, a Woodford County Master Gardener, and other volunteers from the community gathered to put edging along the landscaping border on the front and west side of the library. This is still an ongoing project but don't you think it looks great so far?
If you lose a library item or damage a library item, please contact the library before you do anything. Some people go out and buy a replacement before talking to us. If the item belongs to another library, that library may not accept replacements. And even if the item belongs to the El Paso District Library, the head librarian may not want a replacement either, depending on the item.
We know there has been confusion on this issue in the past. But, our library system is ironing out policies that all libraries should follow to make this process work smoother. We hope to have a genealogy class next Tuesday, July 16th at 6:30 pm. Kim Mullins, the Joyful Genealogist will be here to present, 'Genealogy Fan Club: Sort thru the brick wall one fan at a time'. Kim will suggest strategies to help you when you come to an ancestor in your family genealogy that seems to have fallen off the ends of the Earth!
So far no one has registered. Please register if you are thinking of coming. We won't hold you to it, but we need to be able to let Kim know if she should drive over here to give the class. Register by calling the library at 309-527-4360 or stop by the front desk and register in person! |
