Since it is currently raining and there is a chance of rain throughout the rest of the day and evening, the summer reading opening program will move inside. So, spread the word to anyone you may know who might be coming. It will still be tonight, Monday, June 7th from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. You can come anytime during those hours.
Recently we have been sending emails to patrons when holds come in instead of calling on the phone.
The email will look something like this:
Patron Name (Patron Library Id)
Depending upon which receipt the clerk chooses, the patron may get a list of all times checked out including the hold that just came in or possibly just the current hold that just came in.
Some people have told us they love this notification. Others have told us they thought it was a SPAM kind of email. Others have told us they never look at their emails. Please let us know if you would rather be called and we can put a note on your account to help us in the future to notify you the way you choose.
You can also be notified via text message by Shoutbomb. See our website, tab on the left 'Using the library and FAQS', Library Services including photocopying, free computer use, and free wifi tab, and then scroll down to Shoutbomb. You can download a brochure. Or come into the library and pick one up.
Come anytime between 4:30 pm and 6:30 pm tonight (Monday, June 7th). You can register for summer reading, play games and do activities. The program has been planned to take place in the park outside the library.
Stay tuned for more information. In case of rain, the program may be moved inside.
The El Paso District Library is officially fine free! We have actually been fine free through most of the COVID19 crisis.
Fine Free means that when materials are returned late within a reasonable time frame, you will not be charged any overdue fees!
If you check out materials at another library that is not fine free, overdue fees will still be charged.
Please note the phrase 'within a reasonable time frame'. It is important to make the distinction that items still have a due date, and there is still an overdue process. When items get to a certain point in the overdue process, the library system will mark them as LOST. A processing fee of $5/item will be charged to the account as well as the replacement value of the items lost.
See our website, Using the Libary and FAQS tab, then Fine Free FAQs for more information.
