Little Free Library concerns:
We are in unprecedented times. There is a lot of information coming out about COV-19, sometimes conflicting and confusing. We are following the recommendations from a webinar the IMLS (Institute of Museum and Library Services) presented at the end of March. The webinar was presented by two doctors from the CDC (Center of Disease Control), one of whom was an epidemiologist. The epidemiologist's guidelines were that porous surfaces, such as paper were not a very big concern for contamination but libraries could use caution by letting books sit for 24 hours before they are used again. We know there are other reputable websites that say paper may carry germs for 5-7 days. If you use the Little Free Library, we would hope that you would be cautious by using gloves, not touching your face, and by washing your hands as soon as you get home You can let the book sit for 24 hours or 5-7 days, if you prefer before you read it. You can also wipe the covers off with a sanitizing wipe. And if you have a fever, a cough, a sneeze, or a runny nose, please wait until you feel better to read a library book or use the Little Free Library. Little Free Library
We hope you will enjoy the new Little Free Library which is located outside our library. Thank you to our volunteers who constructed it in less than 24 hours. It is stocked with donated books. If you are missing coming to the library and checking out books, give this a try!
