The second Homemade Pasta class was last Thursday, January 26th. The audience was smaller but an enjoyable time was had by all! Thank you to Cindy Juarez and her family for their time to teach us how to make homemade pasta!

Carmen from Main Street Yoga in downtown Bloomington will be at the library on Thursday, March 9th from 6 pm to 7 pm to teach us how to start meditating. Meditation has many benefits to an individual, read this to find out more.

A crochet club might be just what you need! We have two crochet lovers who are willing to teach crochet to beginners.Experienced crochet-ers are also welcome. It can be fun to meet others who have a common interest with you. The first meeting will be on Tuesday, February 21st at 6 pm at the library. You can register here on our website or you can call the library at 527-4360 or stop by and talk to a librarian. ![]() Jenna Wachtveitl of the Peoria chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will be at the El Paso Public Library on Tuesday, February 7th from 10 am to 11:30 am to talk about 'The Basics: Memory Loss, Dementia, & Alzheimer's Disease'. This presentation is being given during the day because it is hard for some caregivers to be able to leave to attend an evening presentation. If you would like to attend, please register by calling 309-681-1100. You can also register at the library or by calling the El Paso Public Library at 309-527-4360. One of our patrons came in today. She had used the KEYRING app on her phone to get her library card barcode on her phone screen and I was able to scan that into our library computing system. She said that she has all her grocery card savings cards on it also and then she does not have to carry all those cards around in her purse. Just wanted to share with those of you who might find this more convenient than having to remember to carry your library card with you.
Great Time at the Pasta Demonstration! Cindy and her daughter, Maribel showed us all how to make pasta dough and then put it through a pasta machine. The three tables of participants all got to work together in this hands-on presentation to make our own dough and use a pasta machine. Her husband, Gus cooked the pasta we made for us to sample. Cindy also showed us how to make ravioli with a butternut squash filling and it was truly delicious! Cindy showed us many of the kitchen gadgets she has for making different shapes of pasta also. It was a very fun way to spend an evening and learn something new! Cindy is going to come again on Thursday, January 26th at 6 pm and do this presentation again. The public is welcome to come and learn how to make pasta from Cindy. If have your own pasta machine gathering dust in the cabinet, bring it to the next presentation and Cindy will show you how to use it! Cindy also says families are welcome if the children are mature enough to participate in the activity comfortably. Call the library to register for this fun event! (527-4360) Cindy Juarez who is giving the homemade pasta demonstration said that particpants can bring in their own pasta making machines and she will show you how to use them. She also said that children who are old enough to sit and listen can come with their parents.
